Nominator's project description
| Professor Idemudia is a leading African clinical psychologist. His research focus is on the betterment of mental health among highly challenged populations, like prison inmates, refugees, the HIV infected, or illegal immigrants. His academic oeuvre is best described as covering the entire ground of interdisciplinary health studies far beyond the classical confines of clinical psychology. He incorporates input from several subdisciplines of psychology into his clinical work, but also includes the wider context by showing great openness for anthropological, sociological, and political science ideas. Together with his hosts, he will engage in research on xenophobia and mental health in different cultural contexts with a particular focus on the impact of tightness-looseness as a feature distinguishing cultures. |
